🛡️ Nomad Home IP™ Fail-Safe Subscribers
(For users with a physical Nomad Home IP hardware bundle + the Cloud Anchor/Backup City feature)
For users who purchased the Nomad Home IP Bundle + The Fail-Safe Cloud Anchor, your primary traffic routes securely through your Home Base router. However, your system includes a private, dedicated backup node to keep you seamlessly connected even during home internet or power outages.
To activate and configure your Fail-Safe network:
-
Locate your Fail-Safe Email: Check your inbox for a network invitation email specifically labeled for your Cloud Anchor / Backup Node.
-
Accept the Invitation: Click the secure link inside the email to link your account to your private backup node.
-
Hardware Routing: Your pre-configured hardware bundle is designed to automatically fail over to this secure secondary path if your primary home connection drops. No manual configuration changes are needed on your travel router.
-
Optional Device Backup: If you also intend to use personal devices (laptops, phones) directly with the backup city when away from your travel router, follow the Tailscale on Personal Devices instructions below using your Fail-Safe login credentials.
🖥️ Standalone Cloud VPS Subscribers
If you did not purchase a physical router hardware bundle, you can skip the Home Base and Travel Router instructions completely. Your high-speed connection will route entirely through your personal devices using the section below.
To begin, locate the network invitation email sent directly to your inbox. Accept the invitation to link your email address to our secure network, then follow the instructions below to download and activate the Tailscale client app on your laptop, iPad, or mobile phone.
Optional: Using Tailscale on Personal Devices
You may optionally install Tailscale on your personal devices for additional privacy, security, and remote access to your Home Base network.
Supported devices include:
• iPhone
• Android Phone
• iPad
• Windows Laptop
• MacBook
Important Note
Installing Tailscale on personal devices is completely optional and is not required for normal NomadHomeIPTM operation.
Most applications will function normally while Tailscale is active. However, some applications may behave differently when using a VPN connection, including:
• Banking applications
• Financial institutions
• Streaming services
• Corporate VPN software
• Location-based applications
This behavior varies by application and is controlled by the application provider, not by NomadHomeIPTM.
If an Application Does Not Work as Expected
1. Open the Tailscale application.
2. Temporarily disconnect Tailscale.
3. Reopen the application.
4. Reconnect Tailscale when finished.
In most cases, this immediately resolves the issue.
Important Reminder
Your NomadHomeIPTM Home Base Router and Travel Router will continue to function normally whether Tailscale is installed on your personal devices or not.
Remember: Installing Tailscale on personal devices is optional and is not required for your NomadHomeIPTM Home Base Router and Travel Router to operate.
